Terms of use and access to archival records |

Archival records in The Archives of Bosnia-Herzegovina, as mutual heritage of citizens and people of Bosnia-Herzegovina, may be used in official, legal, theaching, scientific, cultural, publish and evidential purposes, as well as evidence for constitutional and legal rights of citizens. Every person may use archives in equal conditions, in accordance with provisions of Archives and Archives of Bosnia-Herzegovina Act («Službeni glasnik BiH» No 16/2001), Recommendations of Council of Europe on Archives and Act of freedom of access to informations in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Public archives are, in principle, accessible 30 years after their creation, if there are no special requests by their creator. Public archives related on particular persons may be used 10 years after death of person, or earlier if it is approved by his / her spouse, children or parents. If scientific or other real reasons make using archives from paragraph 1 of this article necessary, that archives may be used in a way which guarantee the protection of persons interests, without mention of names or on other proper way. Private archives that became possession of competent archival institution by deposit, gift or purchase, are available for use under the conditions and in the same way as public archives, unless this has not been regulated otherwise by transfer record or by contract. Terms of access and use of archival records in Archives of Bosnia-Herzegovina are defined by the Archives and the Archives of Bosnia-Herzegovina Act, Regulations for the use of archives in the Archives of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Regulations on Reading Room.
Consulting of public archives (in same time access to informations) is reduced or prohibited if:
Unarranged, damaged and archives in processing, in principle, are not accessible. In special cases, this kind of archives may be used, but with a special approval issued by director. |

Archives may be used in reading room, in its original form or in copies, and on request of competent person can be copied / scanned and delivered to user. Approval for using archives is issued by the director or his substitutes. Approval for using the archives is valid only for the person and cannot be transferred on other person. The person that want to use archives in ABH must submit a written application, which contains: identification of user (name and surname, date and place of birth, adress, citizensip, name of institution of employeer), theme of research, archives for use, date and signature. Users younger than 18 years in their application must give the name of mentor-professor, name of school and purpose of using archive. Foreign citizens are obliged to submit their application earlier. Archives of Bosnia-Herzegovina is obliged to enable user to get finding aids, inform him about archival fond and data which he / she wants. In reading room, every user gets case for archives and writting equipment. In one working day, user can order 30 documents as a maximum. If the way of research requests, user can get a more than 30 documents. For official purposes, documents are being issued, in principle, in a form of certified transcripts. This kind of services Archives cash as fees in accordance with Pricelist of services. Users are obliged to respect Regulations on Reading – Room. In reading room, users can bring just a paper, writting equipment and laptop. Smoking, talking, eating, drinking are prohibited. It is restricted to use any things which can damage archives. Users are obliged to correctly indicate name of the The Archives of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and deliver to The Archives one issue of published book or paper written on used and consulted archival records. Use of archives may be rejected if user manipulates with archives unproperly, harming its integrity, misuse data or uses them out of context, and if does not respect Regulations on Reading Room in ABH. Every intentionally damaging, destroying of theft of archives endure punitive provisions. |

All fees (copying, microfilming, scanning, photographing and other ways of reproduction) in accordance with Pricelist of The Archives, which is part of this Regulations, are payed by user. Translation of archives on foreign languages............10 KM per page Copy per one paper: A4 format....................0,20 KM A3 format....................0,40 KM Issuing documents, transcripts and copies for users' needs: 1. certificates ............................15 KM 2. confirmations and informations.....5 KM 3. certified transcripts..................... 5 KM. The Archives also sell own publications in accordance with pricelist. |
